Drs. Matt Bochman (Biochemistry) and Brian Calvi (Biology) recently received an IU Institute For Advanced Study Collaborative Research Award to apply a novel deep sequencing method to study DNA helicases in Drosophila melanogaster. The research team also includes Dr. Duncan Smith from NYU, an expert on next-gen sequencing and genome integrity. Graduate students from both IU and NYU will be involved in the proof-of-concept research that has bearing on cancer and several genetic disorders.
