The Biochemistry Graduate Program is proud to announce that second-year student Kait Taylor was recently awarded a 2023 John R. and Wendy L. Kindig Fellowship, which will cover her stipend and support her research for the 2023/2024 academic year. Kait is mentored by Dr. Matt Bochman, Associate Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, and the goals of her dissertation project are to use structure-function studies to determine how disease alleles of the human RECQL4 DNA helicase result in genomic instability. This is the second Kindig award received by Bochman Lab students, with fourth-year student Robert Simmons III receiving one of the inaugural fellowships in 2021.
